About the book
The story opens in a cemetery. A nameless girl mourns her parents and directs her unanswered questions to the heavens, unaware that a hooded Shadow is watching her. Personal loss brings her to the threshold of an unseen world.
Beginning with an earthly story, this published mystery play leads the reader into a realm beyond time. The Lord of Time recounts the origins of the universe as an ancient conflict between the Creator and Satanel comes into view.
Divine disputes intersect with human experiences of grief, exclusion, vulnerability, domestic violence and the responsibility of choice. Human and divine perspectives illuminate one another throughout the work.
At its heart is hope: a person who feels insignificant may still matter, and the choices made in a single life may leave their mark on the story of the universe.
READ AN EXCERPT · ABOUT 1 MINUTE
Opening scene · in the cemetery
In the cemetery. A girl weeps, prostrate over her parents’ grave, unaware that someone in the burial ground she believes to be empty is watching her anguish.
Existence is emptiness… futility.
Life is only an illusion, worth nothing at all.I feel the unseen world calling,
calling me without a sound,
but now I do not care,
for pain holds dominion over my soul.Life is no more than a struggle for nothing;
death rules every part of it.This moment has nothing left to offer;
nothing remains within my soul but grief.

The encounter · another short extract
She searches for the Being’s eyes, but as she peers into the darkness of the hood, she sees with a shock that the towering figure has no face. It is as though the depths of dark space are staring back at her. Gathering her courage, she asks the Being a brief question:
Who are You?
(She hears the silent answer within herself, like a thought.)
Your question is in vain,
for your human knowledge is slight.
You cannot yet see things clearly,
though in your present world, so modest a dimension,
you have the power to sense other worlds.
