KAMILLA AKHMIN / THE ARTIST

My imagination does not stop at the edge of an image.

I create images and write stories. When I grow attached to a character or motif, I also like to imagine it as a sculpture, a silk scarf pattern or part of a book.

My imagination does not stop at the edge of an image.

ARTIST STATEMENT

What I work on

I create images, write fiction and theatre pieces, and design concepts for characters, objects and brands. My work returns to the bond between companions, changing forms, memory and the passage of time.

My standalone artwork is in the Art gallery. In Art & Living, I also show how I would use the motifs on textiles, porcelain and other objects.

My digital workflow can include concept sketches, visual design and AI-assisted image making. Some studio scenes shown here are illustrative concepts, not documentary photographs.

“Worlds begin with curiosity.”
