The story

ORIN – The Eternal Observers

A story of stillness, awakening and presence.

Long before people gave names to the stars, the Orins were already watching.

Their story leads back to the Zero Space: the primordial, creative existence of thought from which Antispace unfolded. Time found its place in that world, and within it our universe came into being.

The Orins are the observers of Antispace. Their presence accompanies the history of worlds. They perceive distant lights, the movements of energy and emerging life. For them, the past, the present and possible futures belong to one vast continuum. Each eye opens towards a different direction, a different reality.

They never speak. They do not attack, judge or intervene in events. They observe and preserve the memory of everything that unfolds before them.

The three sculptures reveal three states of this eternal presence.

Stillness. The first figure is closed within itself. A narrow seam runs down its egg-shaped form; the inner core remains concealed. Sunlight moves over its surface, the sky is reflected in it, and the shadow of a nearby tree passes across it. The world changes around it as it quietly keeps its secret.

Awakening. From the second figure, the sensing arms slowly unfold. The first eyes appear, and the central spiral becomes visible. The movement pauses halfway between enclosure and openness. It preserves a moment we usually barely notice: the instant when something first enters our awareness.

Presence. The third figure opens fully. Its eyes extend in a circle towards the world. At its centre is the spiral, where memory, perception and time come together. Each direction holds a different story, yet all belong to the same centre.

Side by side, the three figures trace the movement of awakening. The water around them reflects their forms until a gust of wind breaks the image apart. For a moment, the shapes tremble, then settle into place again.

Someone hurries across the square. Someone else stops in front of them. A child looks at each eye, then steps back towards the closed figure, as though noticing it for the first time.

The Orins remain silent.

After a while, someone looking at them may begin to notice their surroundings too: the movement of the water, the changing light, the person standing beside them.

Beside the eternal observers, for a brief moment, the visitor becomes an observer too.

Enquiries

ORIN in your space

I imagine the three figures as an ensemble for gardens, courtyards and entrance spaces. Scale, materials and placement can be developed as part of planning a realisation.
