KAMILLA AKHMIN · COMIC POP ART

Fix It

One idea. Two best friends. Plenty of happy mishaps.

Fix It always has a plan. Her white Maltese companion usually has a better one — or at least a funnier one. In Kamilla Akhmin’s comic pop art world, making things, playing and being together turn into small, affectionate adventures.

THE CHARACTERS

Every good plan needs a friend.

01

Fix It

A dark bob, a coral bow and always a new idea. This curious girl builds, paints, fixes and tries again. When something goes wrong, it often becomes the best part of the story.

02

Her Maltese companion

Soft white fur, dark eyes and irresistible curiosity. To this little dog, a box can be a home, a wagon can be a throne, and the most important job is playing together.

03

Their world together

Cobalt blue, lemon yellow and coral, with bold outlines and comic halftone dots. The characters focus on each other and what they are doing: the humour grows from their friendship.

Stories for children and the adults who read with them; a playful visual world for dog lovers and families who enjoy making things together.

EVERYDAY ADVENTURES

The plans may go wrong. The friendship never does.

Seven short stories about making things together. Select an image to take a closer look.

The box wins

Fix It built a lovely doghouse. Her friend gave it a thorough inspection, then moved into the cardboard box it came in.

“All right,” she laughed. “Then the other one can be the guest house!”

A very long measurement

Fix It only wanted to measure a short plank. Her assistant set off with the end of the tape measure. By the time she caught up, they had measured the entire workshop.

Grounded for a nap

The kite needed just one more bow when her friend settled on it and fell asleep. Fix It quietly put the bow down. Take-off was postponed for a very important nap.

The four-pawed artist

Fix It carefully painted the picture frame. Meanwhile, her friend filled the middle with four blue paw prints.

“I see my fellow artist has already finished!” she laughed. She kept the picture.

Right behind her ear

Fix It searched the toolbox, the table and every pocket. At last, her friend sniffed out the pencil tucked behind her ear.

“Right. Today you’re the brains, and I’m the hands!”

Will it grow into a ball tree?

Her friend planted his favourite ball. Fix It brought a little water, and together they waited for a miracle.

“If there’s no ball tree by tomorrow, we’ll dig it up and play with it.”

The workshop’s new boss

Fix It built a little wagon for her tools. When she turned round, her friend was already sitting comfortably inside, with a cleaning cloth in his mouth.

“At least someone remembered the equipment!” she said, and off they went for a test drive.
