Someone comes closer
Elun stood in the square as people hurried past. Sunlight travelled over the golden coils of his hair; on his dark coat it caught a handful of quiet marks. Through the open heart in his chest, a small piece of sky was visible.
One morning, a little girl stopped before him. She looked up, then held out her hand. Elun bent towards her, lowering his hand until her fingertips could reach his.
For a moment, the square seemed to slow around them. The girl no longer had to stretch so far. Someone had come closer.
Elun is Aenili’s companion. His story takes shape in these small gestures: kneeling to listen, offering a hand, making room on a bench for someone to rest beside him. His smooth face leaves the emotion to his posture and to the person who approaches.
The collection carries that first encounter into different forms. Sculpture preserves the gesture; the painting opens it into sweeping lines and spirals. Fragments of those lines continue across porcelain, silk and the pages of a planner — reminders to leave a little time for one another.
